The dinner banquet for celebrating the birthday of my dearest uncle was held in a private club restaurant. Many close relatives & friends were invited to join this big birthday bash. The evening was filled with love, unforgettable moments, never-ending joy and happy memories.
My uncle is a highly educated professional who is passionate & optimistic. I would say, he has almost everything, so what birthday gift should I buy to make him happy on this special day? Wallet, Watch, Pen, Scalf….? No, no, no….
I have an idea! He loves eating Durian. Hmm, perhaps I should buy him this as a birthday present.
Durian is the King of Fruits, has been described as the most foul-smelling fruit in the world. You either love-it-or-hate-it. It has a strange combination of savory, sweet and creamy all at once. It is not for everyone, but those who love durian are crazy.
Hmm, I remember many hotels, public transport systems, etc... in Singapore/Malaysia do not allow durian. Basically durian ban on most premises. I ‘d better check with the restaurant first.
Oh my God, they don’t really have this ‘durian-friendly’ policy.
So, this idea doesn’t work ☹
I have to quickly think of some other alternatives. Well, it’s not easy at all!
I searched online for alternatives. The day was approaching….
Finally, I remembered I once took a picture while I was window shopping at a bakery. That time, I was impressed.
This is it! Let me get one for my uncle. He will love it ☺
Placing Order
Helen was the one I made contact with to take my order. It was so nice of her to make the cake by hand and deliver it to the restaurant.
Dessert is about to be served, and everyone was astonished by what they saw when I took the cake out. Amazing, awesome! The cake was a big hit!
It looked so real & interesting to catch the first glimpse of everyone present. Cameras eat first, no doubt.
The cake looks so much like an iconic Durian – Musang King (貓山王榴蓮).

My uncle was so impressed & delighted he could have his favorite durian on the menu that nite. Yummy :)
In addition to the appearance, the cake was baked with real fruit meat (貓山王榴蓮)!
